We have placed an order for a second hand JCB excavator, which is due to be delivered in the next few days.
Work on a stunning new feature – a moat at the 8th hole – is scheduled to commence on delivery.
As well as being
aesthetically pleasing, this new feature will add an additional challenge to the 8th hole and will significantly improve the drainage in this area. The work will take between 2 and 6 weeks (depending on the weather) and we will be looking for some volunteers to help for one afternoon. We will issue details about this in due course.
Both the 8th and 9th holes will remain in operation during this period, with a winter green at 8 and and winter tee at 9 on an “as required” basis.
Once this development is complete, the excavator will be deployed on the completion of the drainage and refacing of the greenside bunkers. We are hopeful that this programme can be finished for the start of next season.
Beyond that, the excavator will be used to upgrade various paths around the course, and to relocate some trees. Once all of the work is complete the excavator will be sold, with most of the outlay recouped.
